Object description :

"Stone Vase, Neolithic Of Tell Bouqras"
This vase of 9000 years and very beautiful patina, comes from the site of Tell Bouqras in Syria and dates from the Neolithic Middle Euphrates, Syria. Typical of the culture of Telle Bouqras which developed between -7400 and -6200 BC, this object was sclupted to enhance the red mottling that takes place on the entire surface of the vase. These stone vases are considered to be the first stone carved vases in the world. At Tell Bouqras, there were two excavation campaigns, that from 1960 to 1965 and another one from 1976 to 1978. For more information consult JJ Roodenberg (Tell Bouqras stone furniture).
