Russia icon, tempera with gold leaf on levka on wood. Russia circa 1850
A rare icon of "Staurothek" used in both metal travel icons. The bronze travel icons were taken for the devotional trip, the wooden icon stayed at home. Very heavy icon made of cypress wood. Painting in original condition and very well done.
