Beautiful luminous work of the Avignon painter Marius Breuil which represents a lively landscape in Paradou in the Alpilles.
Rare in the production of the artist, our painting has the particularity of being animated by a character.
From 1879, he participated in the artistic movement in Avignon in the company of his friends Paul Saïn, Pierre Grivolas and became friends with the painter Léon Bonnat.
In 1890, the artist stayed more and more often in his farmhouse in Paradou where he frequently met the Provençal poet Charloun Rieu.
In 1892, the family retired permanently to his farmhouse in Paradou. After the death of his father in 1893 and his mother in 1911, the artist lives reclusively in his house.
The artist had a production of about 400 works, including a majority of tableautins, although it does not touch his brushes because of rheumatism from 1907 to 1919.
Size: 19.5 x 35.5 cm unframed and 28.5 x 44 cm with its original gilded wood frame.
