"Venus Disarming Love"
Venus Discarming Love
French School of the eighteenth century.
Oil on oak panel 40 cm x 32.5 cm

Venus disarms Love by taking the arrow from her straitjacket and gives him a disapproving look.
The scene takes place in a park, in the background a temple of Love and a waterfall, a satyr bust contemplates this charming scene.
Venus wears a crown of roses and her nakedness is barely veiled by a large red stole.
Many artists, painters and sculptors have been inspired by this theme since the 16th century.
