"Interior Scene Signed Adolphe Appian" Table depicting a cottage interior signed Appian. unframed dimensions 32 cm X 24 cm From 1833 to 1836, Adolphe Appian studied drawing at Lyons School of Fine ArtsJean-Michel Grobon's workshops.He will begin his career as a draftsman in the silks of Lyon, before pouring in landscape painting. He began atSalon 1835 in Paris and exhibited at the Salon of 1847 in Lyon, then regularly in the Salons of these two cities from 1855. In 1852, Adolphe Appian meetsJean-Baptiste CorotetCharles-François Daubigny who mark his work and his career durably. Until then, he was divided between music and painting; henceforth he devotes himself mainly to the second, adopting the style of the Barbizon school. He took part in the Universal Exhibition of 1862 in London. Napoleon III bought one of his paintings, Le Lac du Bourget, in 1867. That same year, he changed, the tones of his palette changing from cold and dark colors to warmer colors and lumineuses1. He won the gold medal at the Salon of 1868 in Paris, and participated in the Paris World Fair of 1889.
