Italian school of the early seventeenth century, circa 1610-1620. The Holy Family with Saint John the Baptist. Oil on copper In a frame, of posterior period, with double reversed profiles in veneer of ebony. Very good state of conservation (completely cleaned and refinished). Dimensions with frame: Height: 68 cm X Width: 53 cm. Dimensions of copper: Height: 30 cm X Width: 25 cm. The infant Jesus is represented on the knees of the Virgin, receiving from Saint-Jean Baptiste a bunch of grapes and an apple, all under the benevolent eye of Saint Joseph. The scene unfolds under a tree with the lamb (attribute of St. John) at the feet of the virgin, and a city in the background.
