"Basket Of Flowers Workshop Jan Brueghel The Younger 17 Th"
Basket of flowers, oil on copper, dimensions: 25 cm x 19 cm, with its beautiful 17 è carved wooden frame: 45 cm x 39 cm, workshop of Jan Brueghel the Younger, 17 th century. Jan Brueghel is a Flemish painter born in Antwerp in 1601 and died in 1678, of the famous Brueghel family, he is the grandson of Pieter Brueghel the Elder and the son of Jan Breghel the Elder. If today we see in the still lifes with flowers, only the aesthetic effect of the floral composition, we must not forget that at the time when they were painted, they also created vanities. Indeed we often find flowers of different seasons and flowers not found in Flanders at that time, they come from boards of illustration. The message delivered is the ephemeral character of existence, reinforced on our board by the presence of a butterfly flying above the bouquet and an insect on the entablature.
