Jean-Charles Saunier - Joiner-cabinetmaker. Paris. Master August 27, 1743. He was the son of Charles Saunier Ordinary cabinetmaker of the king and brother of Jean Baptiste Saunier also cabinetmaker. He kept the workshop of his father rue du Faubourg-Saint-Antoine. He was part of the Jurande of his community between 1750 and 1752. Jean Charles Saunier is best known for being the father of the very great cabinetmaker Claude Charles Saunier, whom he trained in the production of Louis XV furniture of good quality with curved shapes and Rococo decorations, as our dresser. When he died in 1765, Claude Charles took over from his father to become one of the greatest cabinetmakers of the Louis XVI period. Superb furniture in excellent condition, our dresser has been fully restored in the rules of art without any compromise of quality. Very beautiful old stamp polish. A slightly different angle of fall pattern to the right and left (parts under the satyr masks): one of the two can be reported unless this dissymmetry was desired from the beginning.
