In the foreground, people in a boat carrying a French flag are berthing. In the distance, on a sea of oil, another rowboat and spectacular three masts. The last bursts of sun illuminate the scene with a warm, slightly veiled orange light. A very nice animated scene, well composed and detailed. A beautiful palette of colors, beautiful reflections on the water! The painting dates from the first half of the 19th century around 1840. Condition: on its original canvas. On the back is the stencilled mark of the Colcomb-Bourgeois fabric dealer, under the sign "Au Specter Solaire" 18, Quai de l'Ecole and 38, rue Neuve Vivienne in Paris (in 1839 at this address).
