"Ezio Ceccarelli 1865-1927 Large Dedicated Wine Medallion Enamelled Terracotta"
Work Italian, work dated between 1883 and 1927. Artist: EZIO CECCARELLI Born in Montecatini (Italy), 27/07/1865 - Died in Volterra, December 1927 Superb large medallion enameled terracotta, representing many subjects dedicated to the Vine theme, wine. Large work with a lot of character. Good condition having no restorations. Born in Montecatini (Italy) July 27, 1865 in a very poor family he will live in the year 1880 in Florence where he discovers his gifts for drawing and sculpture in the studio of the sculptor Ulisse Cambi then in 1881 he returns to the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence where he will follow the courses of sculptor Augusto Rivalta, Augusto Passaglia and Raffaello Pagliacetti. In 1883 he sculpts a bust "Dopo il rimprovero". In 1898, he won the first prize in the international competition of Turin with a Christ's head: "Ecce homo" and in 1900 he won the Gregoriano contest of Rome with "Noli me tangere". He participated in the Universal Exhibition of Paris in 1900 and 1904. In 1908 he won the project of independence monument of Buenos Aires. In 1910 he participated in the project of decoration of the bridge Vittorio Emmanuele in Rome. In 1920 he exhibited a "Cleopatra" at the Primaverile Fiorentina. He died in December 1927.
