Lamp Charles * House composed of an ostrich egg with gilded bronze elements, on a black marble base, with its original lampshade, 1950-1970 twentieth century. This lamp is in very good condition. Unsigned The lampshade is adjustable in height. We can arrange to have it re-electrified on request and quote. A note: some tiny dirt and scratches on the marble, wear of time, see photos. * Charles House: In 1908, Ernest CHARLES took over the ULLMANN House, Bronzier. The company, then installed 103 rue de Turenne in Paris, specializes in the reproduction of antique lighting, forging a reputation within the profession of bronzier art. In 1920, Emile Albert CHARLES, his eldest son, took over the company and in 1932 Emile CHARLES teamed up with his brother Pierre. the House is then called CHARLES Frères. In 1959, Emile CHARLES is joined by his 2 sons: - Jean CHARLES, Major of BOULLE school section interior architecture and wood carving. - Jacques CHARLES, graduated in Applied Arts in Interior Architecture. From 1960 born the "Charles lamps". Emile-Albert CHARLES and his two sons, Jean and Jacques, create the "Style CHARLES" combining classicism, rigor and timeliness; a new approach in the field of lighting and decoration. The family, already assisted by the wife of Jean, Chrystiane CHARLES, creates the most emblematic elements of the Collection, and signs a new style in the field of lighting and decoration: the famous lamps Ananas, Mais, Apple Pin, Lotus, Vase Medicis ... 1965, Creation of the INOX Line and Lacquers. The organ pipe lamps are very successful and have become an aesthetic reference of this period. In 1970, death of Jean, Jacques and Emile CHARLES. In 1971, Chrystiane CHARLES, wife of Jean and sculptor gold medalist of the Beaux Arts, then took the Artistic Direction of the House CHARLES and creates the Collection which bears his name. Taking up the torch of the family house, Chrystiane CHARLES proposes a collection of signed and numbered sculpture-lamps, of contemporary expression and inspired by nature: AMARYLLIS, ALIZEE, ORCHIDEE, TULIPS ...
