"Chalice And Patene In Silver From The 18th Century, Paris 1789"
Chalice and paten in silver. Cylindrical cup with slightly flared edge, vermeil interior, false cut cut-out patterned with four leaves in reserve. The pear-shaped knot stem decorated with water leaves and rays of oves between two flanges. Circular foot, the cavet comprising three four leaves and a radiant cross planted in a grassy ground, the top of the slightly convex foot is decorated with reeds and florets. The edge of the foot bears an inscription. Punches to the General Farmers of the jurisdiction of Paris Charge, Discharge and Jurande: 1789 Height: 25 cm Chalice weight: 458 gr Paten silver and vermeil engraved IHS. Master silversmith: Loque Jean-Ange Joseph, received master in 1777, punch Rooster. Weight: 54 gr Original box, a pale IHS numeral, a touching historical handwritten letter from the three successive owners of the Chalice - from the same family. Provenance - castle of the Aiglerie in Anjou; Chalice is in good state of conservation (without restorations), paten - bad state.
