Louis Spirinx engraved copper matrix, first half of the 17th century

Louis Spirinx (1596-1669) Engraver, draftsman, born in Antwerp, worked in Lyon from 1636 to 1663.

Beautiful engraved copper presenting Marian scenes under an architectural decoration. Four religious surmounted by the Virgin and Child on a cloud, the Nativity, the Virgin teacher to the evangelists.

Signed under the hat "L Spirinx sculp"

The arms of the sponsor or recipient are engraved on a plate reported and welded presented in a cartridge, perhaps in replacement.

Note some inlays on the plate, that we have not cleaned so as not to undo the framing.
