Object description :

"Rembrandt School Seventeenth Century, Portrait Of A Philosopher"
Oil on its original canvas (76 x 62 cm) Portrait of philosopher with fur hat, left hand raised. In the United Provinces, Rembrandt's work has influenced a large number of painters, beginning with his students (about ten) who themselves have breathed this artistic trend for several decades. The painter encouraged his students to copy his works or to profit from the sale of their paintings, thus paying for their education and learning. Our painting is the work of a painter called "Rembranesque" who knew how to seize with talent the expression of this philosopher thanks to the use of the light and the darkness (technique of the chiaroscuro inspired by Caravaggio) and we think of Govaert Flinck (1615-1660) who was one of the pupils of the grand master. Very good condition Sold with invoice & certificate
