Ceramic Cup From The Primavera Workshop (1912 - 1960) flag

Object description :

"Ceramic Cup From The Primavera Workshop (1912 - 1960)"
Flared cut in enamelled sandstone with yellow, brown and ocher drips with raised cabochons. Signed in hollow "Primavera". Circa 1940. In the field of ceramics, Primavera uses eminent decorators or potters (Jean Besnard, Colette Guéden, Carbonell Guidette, Gisèle Favre, Claude Lévy ...) who draw models executed in small series by workshops craftsmen or factories (Elchinger in Soufflenheim, Bernardaud in Limoges, Montereau, Quimper, Malicorne, Longwy, Saint-Leu-la-Forêt, Sainte Radegonde, Ceramics of Art of Bordeaux ...). The production, very influenced by the "Art Deco" style, is made of good-natured animals, orientalizing vases, crackled or decorated with vibrant colors, plates painted with geometric motifs. She is often of a great gaiety, of an affirmed modernity and wins during the years 1920 - 1930 a great success. If the brand "Primavera" was used until 2007, Primavera ceases to exist as a workshop of creation in 1972. This very innovative concept made emulators, since after the First World War, Galeries Lafayette, the Good Market and Louvre shops opened similar workshops.
