"Neoclassical Barometer Louis XVI Last Decade Of The 18th Century."
Neoclassical Barometer Louis XVI last decade of the 18th century. Barometer-thermometer vertical dial Louis XVI last decade of the eighteenth century lacquered and gilded carved lime wood. Elegant sculptural work of symmetrical neoclassicism such as waving ribbon knot and laurel leaves. Thermometer calibrated according to Rene Antoine Ferchault of Réamur (1683 - 1757), which contains personal annotations such as bath or ice and the records of negative temperatures in Paris in 1735, 1754, 1758 and 1769. Barometer at atmospheric pressure graduated according to Toricelli ( 1608 - 1647). Beautiful oculi in painted wood and not cardboard centered with metal needles, signed by: Bourgeois in Paris. On the back is pierced a cavity where columns and pulleys are present. Original gilding and lacquer are in perfect condition, only a cleaning has been done to restore its former glory. It should be noted that the annotations of the oculi are in old French spoken in the eighteenth century. Dimensions Height 102cm, Width 30cm, Depth 7cm.
