Object description :

"Bergère Period Directoire Or Consulate, Mahogany"
Large mahogany armchair and mahogany veneer. The model still hesitates between the Louis XVI style ending with the Directory, and the Consulate style. All the wood is still molded according to the old tradition but the rear feet are already in saber. The front legs are refined with any fluting, simplified to get closer to fashion in the Antique. The connection dice have not disappeared yet. They are surmounted by balusters that support the armrests, rising from the uprights, or are placed stylized shells. The model was developed by Georges Jacob in the late eighteenth century and taken over by his sons and the competition. It is very well built and in a good state of preservation, which the presence of the old trim and the old straps testify. There are nevertheless some small accidents of use in the mahogany carving and on the edges of the furniture, a small cut on one of the tips of feet. Sun (H x W x D):
