"Cashmere Espoliné Indien Premier Empire"
Circa 1805/1815 India for export to Europe Beautiful shawl pashmina stole and Indian cashmere dating from the beginning of the Fashion shawl in France circa 1805. Tapestry or espolinage by hooking woven frames of one piece . The borders and fringes are not reported but woven in one piece. Classical layout with seven boteh on each end with Mughal buti motifs, circled in red and yellow. Spacers, architectural drawing gallery, five-color weaving. Huge ivory reserve for the best pashmina made from Tibetan goat hair. Very good condition of color and conservation. Dimensions: 317 cm X 128 cm plus 6 cm of fringes. Woven very fine, supple and soft to the touch, we understand the reason why the elegant Europeans fell in unconditional admiration of these shawls imported by the East India Company. Excellent condition, clean, very resistant weaving. Three small rings of less than 0.5 cm very little visible. Five tiny holes in the reserve of less than 0.5 cm. Very minor and acceptable defects for the age of this piece. More info: https: //villa-rosemaine.com/bourse/pieces/spanish-cashmire % C3 % A9-indian-first-empire
