Our work is treated in grisaille and dates from the Parisian period of the artist, from 1898 to 1916. It appears in the news by Clifford Carlisle Osborne Quelques notes dans le ton de la ! published in 1908 in the illustrated encyclopedic magazine Je sais tout (Paris, Ed., Pierre Lafitte, page 773) and which was a huge success in England. That year, he exhibited at the famous Georges Petit Gallery in Paris.
An exhibition devoted to the Parisian period of the work by Serafino Macchiati, between 1898 and 1916, took place in his hometown of Camerino (Italy) from July 23 to November 7, 2004 "A marchigiano parigi. Serafino Macchiati dal 1898 al 1916 ", Convento San Domenico, Pinacoteca e Museo Civici
