Subject: This male winged deity is in a posture that makes her think she is flying or dancing. The divinity is adorned with richly ornamented clothing, beautiful jewels (earrings, necklace, belt, etc.). Medium: Light wood carved polychrome: Numerous traces of gilding.
Origin: India, 18th - 19th century.
Parallels: A similar Garuda can be found at the New Delhi National Museum: See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garuda#/media/File:Garuda_by_Hyougushi_in_Delhi.jpg; Nevertheless, this garuda seems more recent than the one we have.
Condition: Good condition, however some gaps in the hands and two toes are absent.
