Louis XVI clock Carrare marble and mercury bronze entitled "The Study and the Philosophy" is a famous piece produced by the sculptor Boizot.
The dial is signed by Le Paute, Jean-Baptiste le Jeune, 1776-1802 the Kings's clock producer in Louvre in Paris. The clock also has the quantities of the month.
The first Study and the Philosophy Clock is supposed to be offered to Louis XVI for the Sceaux Castle where it is located until nowadays. There is another clock in the museum of the Ile de France and in the Museum of L'Ermitage in Saint Petersburg.
The Clock is decorated in golden bronze in the marble base at the back of the clock so that you can see it in case the clock is standing in front of a chimney mirror, which is not the case of any Study and the Philosophy clock.
The clock has been cleaned, as well as the movement on which you have 10 years warranty.
