"Mausoleum Entrance Project Dated 1764"Large pen and wash painting project for the entrance of a building, perhaps a mausoleum. Two figures draped on either side of an entrance support a cornice. These figures are taken from the Farnese captives, also called the Dace prisoners, from the former Farnese collection today at the Museo Nazionale in Naples. An inscription in French on the lintel bears the date 1764. It remains to be deciphered.
It may be a student architect project.
Some tears on the edges of the sheet, and traces of glue of an old assembly on the margins.
