"Thymiaterion - Etruscan, About 500 Acn"
Subject:It is based on a triangular base representing horse hooves. On the middle of the vertical shaft is a small feline climbing upwards. At the top on a bobèche is based 2 birds. These vessels were intended for burning incence and belonged to high-ranking persons, used in soft and sensual ceremonies. Material:Bronze. Origin:Italy, Etruscan, circa 500 BC. Condition:The central shaft has been broken and repaired, as well as 1 of the 3 feet (see photos). Dimensions:44 cm. Parallel:See the book 'Étrusque' p. 153 Ed.
