Object description :

"Landscape In Plen Air Signed Jz Blijhooft Fecit 1668"
Oil painting on table with dimensions of 63 x 81 unframed and 89 x 97 cm with a frame representing a landscape in the air with a series of characters signed lower right JZ Blijhooft fecit 1668. This table you me ' asked to examine is a painting depicting a eulogy of country life and in touch with nature; the image in question, as can be seen on the signature, is a work of great quality and artistic sensitivity of the painter Zacharias Blijhooft (Middelburg 1630 - 1681). The composition is very harmonious and warm color, high quality especially in form while the scene represented here undoubtedly fits in the theme par excellence paintings of this period or in what is called genre painting. This painting depicts the allegory of life in the countryside where we can see the serenity, joy and peace that nature gives us by looking at the different protagonists of our painting, or the peasants on the left, the hunters and their dogs on the right, fishermen in the background and horses in the background stop to rest in this gentle and peaceful nature, while in the foreground, looking at the mother with the child and the grandmother, we can see all generations of our humanity live and prosper through nature. it is from the earth that life and the earth are born that we take inspiration and we turn to life; therefore, the campaign here must be understood as a hymn to life and as a cry of love for nature because it is the one that gives life to the human being. And in the background we see the protagonist or the green earth, soft, flowery which gives us a feeling of peace and tranquility as if it transported us to a distant world and full of love, in an arcadian landscape where dominate the calm and serenity our feelings; moreover we can see the serenity of the men who work the earth with calm and peace dedicated to the care of the land and the countryside itself. This should be a hymn to life immersed in nature and the simplicity that should reign in our hearts and thoughts. The subject of the painting is a simple representation, in a typically Flemish landscape of the time, of a series of characters wishing to prepare the celebration of an event, given the richness and the very methodical and rational disposition of each character; it should not be excluded that this type of painting is considered as an allegory of a particular theme, an allegory that warns against vices and corruptions of the body. This composition, painted at the end of the sixties of the seventeenth century, having been realized in the middle age (the most brilliant and brilliant moment of a career always of absolute level) of the painter, is of excellent quality and perfectly reflects the phase which is to live the Dutch painting in these moments halfway between a feeling of Mannerist inspiration and an adherence to the naturalistic observation that the Caravaggesque print has just developed; also from the point of view of expression and form with a color scheme and the scene so compact and dense, the painter has all cleared up with the clothes colors of the protagonists really ethereal and with a perspective capable of giving an idea of peace and serenity really remarkable. The work, like all our objects, is sold accompanied by a certificate of photographic authenticity; this document identifies the object by adding value to the article.
