Object description :

""lacquer Painting From Pierre Paulin (1907-2007)""
Rare and important lacquer of Pierre Paulin, representing one of his favorite subjects: A fantastic bird under a red sun with blue rays in an imaginary landscape. Signed P.Paulin lower right. Born in 1907, Pierre Paulin, artist, painter, lacquer, glass and French decorator. between very young at the Ecole des Beaux -Arts de Lyon. He began his career as a decorator with murals. In 1936, he tackles Laque in his studio on Ile Barbe. He is able to thicken his trees or certain plants to accentuate the contrasts. Screens and large panels will become the daily life of his work. Paulin says he is influenced by the symbolists but he also admires Fra Angelico, Nicolas Poussin or Maurice Denis. It is a personal style from the naturalistic themes of oriental lacquer but evolving to the fantastically colorful. His figurative representations draw largely on a dreamlike mythology, and there is also the influence of the Far East. The work is very long and he sometimes spends three months on the same panel. From his first exhibitions, he received prizes in both Lyon and Paris. He collaborated with great designers such as Sornay and continued his creations with public or private commissions. Its dimensions: 108,5cm wide and 135cm high
