Large and luminous work of the Avignon painter Claude Firmin-Goy which represents a scene of haying in Provence. The artist was able to perfectly transcribe the sunny atmosphere of the region on the day of hay harvesting.

Claude Firmin is described by the critics as one of the best Avignon landscape painters "with paintings of superior execution that ignore the violence of contrasts and wrap themselves in a seductive color harmony"; But also, as a painter with exceptional talent, "mainly by his quality of vision: qualities that require a natural feeling of light, perfected by a league experience".

Pupil of Pierre Grivolas, Léon Bonnat and Paul Saïn, he appeared at the Salon des Artistes français from 1889 to 1922 and at the Salon des Artistes Indépendants from 1906 to 1910, where he obtained numerous awards during his participation.
At the same time, he attended exhibitions in Avignon from 1882 to 1944, including that of the Group of Thirteen to which he belongs.
In 1922, he became professor and then director from 1937 to 1941 of the School of Fine Arts of the City of Avignon.
He obtained the Legion of Honor in 1937.

Size : 90 x 150 cm without its frame and 106 x 166 cm with its gilt wood frame.
