"Lions of Foo" couple of sculptures carved in white marble, China, Qing Dynasty S. XIX. These mythical animals are guardians who are represented in pairs, with one or both front legs resting on an era. They usually protect the entrance to temples and tombs to anoint demons and other evil spirits. They are animals, a symbol of energy and courage. When they keep the entrance to a sacred space, couples are represented. The male holds an orb under his paw and the female holds a calf. Measures: 36 x 36 x 92 cm.
