Charles Paillet was born in Nievre, France. He studied sculpture under the supervision of Georges Gardet. His first exhibition was held at the Salon of 1897 and he was exhibited regularly until 1921. Most of his works bear the seal of the Thibault Brothers, both those lost wax and those made with the method of sand casting. Some of his works bear the seal of F. Barbedienne. Paillet, Gardet, Rene Paris, and others form the second generation of animal sculptors.
