"Pair Of Chinese Paints On Rice Paper"Known as the "Canton School", these rice-paper paintings depicting characters, insects or butterflies, boats or, as here, scenes from everyday life in China, were made by specialized craftsmen who produced them many between 1850 and 1930 to be reported by tourists or foreign sailors. Alas !
The support, the rice paper ages poorly if it is not kept in good conditions and there is little left, hence the pleasure that I had to find this pair, intact apart from some very light foxing on one of her. mounted in coasters bordered by metallized paper, they measure approximately 13 X 20 cm. Do not hesitate to ask for photos or additional information by mail or phone.
