Born in Paris in 1826, dead in the same city in 1900, Jules-Emmanuel Valadon is a french artist painter, trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris; he was led by Michel Martin Drolling, Leon Cogniet and Henri Lehmann.
He exhibited for the first time at the Salon in 1857 (third medal in 1880). Known for his portraits, he has also distinguished himself in the genre of still life. As such, Auguste Dorchain considered him "Chardin de-son-temps" (Auguste Dorchain, "Jules Valadon (1826-1900)", in The Journal of Good in Life and Art, January 1, 1902, p.8.)
Eight of these works are now in the Musée d'Orsay catalog.
