Object description :

"Earthenware From Savonne Eighteenth Century."
This exceptional ceramic box is of quadrilobed form, its rich decoration, of manganese color, is different on each lobe, on the one figure a big bird, provided with long legs, can be an ostrich? On the other side is a kind of antelope on a landscape background, at each end is a tree branches to the wind. The lid has a central head that acts as a hold, it is wearing a hat, it is possible that this is one of the characters of the Commedia dell 'Arte, on both sides a dog running in the countryside and buildings in the center of a landscape, on each of the two remaining lobes a tree stands. At the bottom of the box and inside is an insect. Although the interior is not compartmentalized we think it is a box spice. This box is in good condition, the lid has undergone a restoration, at the base of the socket. Savona production, Italy eighteenth century. Dimensions long 11.2 cm, width 8.5 cm, height 9 cm.
