"Port Of Martigues By Aglevert"
French School XXeme. Oil on panel representing the port of Martigues named the pier Brescon said bird mirror which has become the favorite place of painters since the late nineteenth. In the district of the island, the mirror with the birds constitutes an enchanting urban setting. This splendid body of water decorated with a flotilla of points with the Latin sails and bordered by old houses of fishermen with painted facades, classified since 1942, this place has fascinated many painters like Delacroix, Coron, Loubon, Ziem or Dufy. This painting represents the atmosphere of this port with fishermen on their boats and men on the quai.On can see through this painting all the depth and all the limunosity of this picturesque place. The light is alive there between sky and water it has an infinite variety of colors. A place with a very bucolic aspect that leaves us dream.
