"Gabriel Largeteau: "court With A Tree""
How Gabriel Largeteau (1911-1969) could you have forgotten dictionaries and other sites ? He was a native of the Toulouse region and was a student of Devambez at the Beaux-Arts in Paris where, logistically, he won the second second Grand Prix of Rome (the bronze medal, what ! ...) for his canvas to imposed subject "The rest" where we see women carrying the midday meal to reapers in a modern realistic style to which our table of today relates
His style however quickly evolved to representations more "avant-garde" like our painting presented on this same site "The hunter" which must date from the 50s.
It is about a painting on cardboard maybe oil or gouache or a mixture of the two, showing a simple corner of courtyard from which springs a tree bare between the roofs. "In its juice", signed in a way that can not be read at the bottom right, it measures 30 X 24 cm, without frame. ..
