"Bust Of The Countess Of Du Barry Late Eighteenth End"
French School late 18th century after Augustin Pajou. The Very Voluptuous Countess Du Barry born Jeanne Bécu de Cantigny (19-8-1743 / 8-12-1793) Carved model that can be compared because very inspired by both the hairstyle and the bodice of that biscuit of Locré by A Pajou preserved at the Lambinet Museum in Versailles. Important plaster bust by Geromet to Mascon (spelling of the city of Macon until the 18th) signed, identified and dated 1789. Absence of pedestal what makes it can be even more majestic presented on a sheath or narrow column. A very ingenious modern base is concealed under this bust.
