Object description :

"Pair Of Walls, Gilt Bronze Eighteenth Century"
Pair of sconces, gilt and chiseled bronze, mid-Louis XV Pair of sconces in chiseled and gilt bronze rocaille style. Each is composed of a sinuous and molded stem, completed in the lower part by an acanthus leaf, and two arms enriched with acanthus curling to support the sheet basins. The arms are fused in several parts, independently of the stem to which they are welded (see photograph), according to the technical use of the eighteenth century. The bobeches (or basins), according to the use of time, are worked only for the part visible to the eye is the lower part. The asymetrical rocking bunches, fused in two parts "to the shell", are screwed on. Very good condition. Melting of the mid-eighteenth century. Old gilding, but perhaps not original (often the lights are redorés because the wax pulls the gilding and the flames degrade). Sun. (H x W): 39 x 29 cm
