"Vintage 18th Century Fireplace Mantel"
Plate of chimney dated 1734 of XVIIIe S. period of beautiful invoice, with the arms of Claude Nicolas Chifflet with dexter, born in Besançon on October 21, 1675 and sinister those of Jeanne Baptist of Orchamps, his wife, born in 1674 in Besançon (see documentation in photo). Also in photo, an excerpt from "Autour des Chifflet: The origins of erudition in Franche-Comté", by Laurence Delobette and Paul Delsalle, who describes with great accuracy the weapons, including the golden snake (ouroboros ), the saltire of money, in crest the "watchful dragon" and in supports the two rams of gold. This stamp probably comes from the Hôtel Particulaire Chifflet in Besançon, built in 1734 by Jean-Charles Colombot (and enlarged by the same architect in 1751). cf: http://insitu.revues.org/8618. Its weight is 172 kg, a slight crack of 35 cm is noted in the lower part.
