"Pair Of Mahogany Chairs Consulat Period Model Used At Tuileries Palace Circa 1800"
Beautiful pair of mahogany Etruscan chairs, Consulate period, circa 1800. That model was created around 1800 for the Tuileries Palace, then installed in 1807 in Fontainebleau in a Prince apartment. (Biblioagraphie Jean Pierre Samoyault, French Consulate and Empire, Furniture fig. 115 page 66). Our chairs are similar, more exactly they are even a richer model with the front in lion claws.
Nor our chairs are stamped, neither those of the Tuileries. Nevertheless the perfection of the finishes, the line and the perfect proportions, are very close to the productions of Jacob Frères.
Excellent condition, old restorations and small accidents (to the claws). new varnish and covered with a beautiful stripped silk blue lines from Lelièvre. Horsehair trim on strap.
Beautiful collector, rare model and very sophisticated, the kind of seat you can find in major collections such as the Marmottan Museum in Paris
