VERA BRAUN (1902-1997) Véra BRAUN was born in 1902 in BUDAPEST, in a family of goldsmiths to whom the Empress MARIE-THERESE had given the right to be called by the name of the old capital BUDA (BUDAI in Hungarian). She attended the Higher School of Engraving of VIENNA (Austria) and became first designer. She discovers PARIS in 1928, as well as painting through cubism of BRAQUE, then "tachisme". Vera BRAUN work then in the workshop of André LOTHE, then later in that of Fernand LEGER. She is the one who executes, from the models of this great artist, some of her huge paintings from her last exhibition, "Les Constructeurs". She takes part first with engravings with the burin, then with her paintings, with the big salons of paintings of PARIS, such as the Salon d'Automne, the Salon de Mai, that of the Surindépendants and others ... Her first exhibition individual takes place in 1935 at the STORREN GALLERY in LONDON. During the Second World War, she stayed in Paris, but changed her name and became Mrs Leblond, a cartoonist. Vera BRAUN receives the INTERNATIONAL PRIZE for painting in 1959 in VICHY. His first exhibition in PARIS took place in 1960 at the BELFOND gallery. In 1969, the French State bought him a painting, then the BUDAPEST Museum of Fine Arts bought two paintings. There is an exhibition in the same museum in 1970. It also exhibited for the first time at LAUSANNE in 1969 at the gallery UNIP-ART-CONTEMPORAIN, exhibition that will be repeated in 1973 and 1976 in the same place, with many of success ...
