Louis SON (1921-1996) Oil on canvas unframed, signed lower right. 116 x 89 cm Louis Son was born in Dijon in 1921. After a difficult childhood marked by the death of his mother when he was 2 years old and a disability in the knee, he turned to painting. After studying at the School of Fine Arts in Dijon, he joined the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 1942, he met his first companion, a widow of war, who served as a model. He paints in the cellar of the family apartment. He exhibited at the Salon des Independants from 1952 to 1957, Salon d'Automne and others. At that time, he also diversified his work, sculpting Plexiglas pieces that he colorized with ink. He also makes a great variety of objects (pots, nutcrackers, corks). In 1955 at a Salon, he was asked by an American to broadcast his plays in the United States. He declines the offer, stops his productions and continues to paint. In 1959, he meets his wife Denise. Under his leadership, he reveals his work somewhat, which leads him to draw for great designers. In 1977 he won the first prize in the city of FONTENAY-SOUS-BOIS. He never sold a painting but continued to paint until his death in 1996
