Belgian artist, painter, designer, watercolourist, sculptor, portrait painter as well as painter of nudes and landscapes, Marcel Delmotte was a pupil of Léon Van den Houten at the free workshop of the University of Labor, in Charleroi. Initially a realist painter, he is gradually influenced by expressionism and evolved towards classical spirit symbolism and large compositions. He presents here the portrait of a miner from Charleroi, his birthplace.
