"From The Eighteenth Century Bacchic Console In Walnut"
Walnut Console with a goat's head Epoque eighteenth century a goat's head smiling finely carved, adorned with leaves and tendrils of vine supports a tray molded console. The goat was the animal attributed to Bacchus, god of wine and fertility. At Bacchanalia were sacrificed a goat singing and drinking, which was called "Tragedy" literally means "The song of the goat." Apart from the purely idolatrous, this console is reminiscent of a distant past of humanity where man still managed to rise through the material and the wine without falling into excess. We have in this rare object a history purely mythological it is interesting to recall.
