The skull is placed on the bible to express the fact that life after death is more important than the secular life. The work is presented in a wooden frame and gilded stucco Louis XVI style. The frame measures 39cm x 30cm The paint measures 27cm x 22cm. Work dating from the late eighteenth century. In good condition.
