"André Delfau Gouache Watercolor Mephistophela Faust Opera Ballet Chicago Berlioz Boito Gounod"
Interesting gouache and watercolor by André Delfau (1914-2000) Representing a "decoration for Faust" inscription on the back. "Mephistophela" is a ballet based on the story of Faust, choreographed by Ruth Page in 1963, with music arranged and orchestrated by Isaac Van Grove after Berlioz, Boito and Gounod. Decors and costumes were designed by André Delfau. The ballet was premiered in Park Ridge, Illinois as part of the Chicago Opera Ballet's 1963 tour of Ruth Page. This makes it possible to date this work around the 60s. Great gouache, watercolor and gold flange. Dimensions: with frame: 61 cm x 76 cm at sight: 40,5 x 52,5 cm
