Drawing in watercolor, signed lower left Mr. Asselin, "Branles Loiret". Maurice Asselin, nudes painter, seascapes, still lifes, watercolorist and printmaker, was born in Orleans in 1882 and died in Neuilly in 1947. He devoted himself to painting from 1903. He exhibited in Paris at the Salon des Independants and at Salon d'Automne from 1906. He made many solo exhibitions in Paris but also in London, Munich, Tokyo etc. It is marked by Cézanne and the Fauves. He painted intimate and warm scenes. His watercolors are made with quick, light strokes. Maurice Asselin is a delicate watercolor.
