Comes from a wealthy family, Angel Zarraga moved to France in 1904. After studying Fine Arts in Mexico City, he studied in Brussels, Madrid, Toledo and Florence before set Paris in 1904 where he started at the Autumn Salon in 1911.
Zarraga is interested in the avant garde as cubism. It will also have high affinity with symbolism and Art Deco but anxious to preserve its freedom, it will adhere to any current and keep its own personality.
He will also maintain throughout his work a strong attachment to a kind of mysticism deeply rooted in Mexican folklore. A. Zarraga, who has not experienced the Mexican Revolution, isimpregnated by this Paris of "the Roaring Twenties" that promotes all freedoms, which gives his work a decorative representation, linked to the"The times" (liberated women clothing shortcuts haircuts ).
He produced numerous murals for private homes. His major work is the important command frescoes for the Mexican Embassy in Paris.
