Portraitist, born in 1852. Student Antoigny of Hédin and Detaille, he will bind to a strong friendship, Basil Lemeunier was rewarded by his talent at the Paris Salon in which he participated from 1888 to 1921 and at the Universal Exhibitions of 1889 and 1900.
Artist known for his many performances contemporary genre scenes and streets of the Paris of the Belle Epoque. Known as the painter who represents "street children are lovely and elegant and alluring women" opposite the painter Fernand Peel.

This work represents a scene of Parisian life is dear to the artist subject; especially since he wanted to represent the end of the Great War and the beginning of a new happy life.
