"Gilded Wood Statue, St. Mary Magdalena, Provence, XVIIth Century"
  • Statue in gilded wood, polychrome
  • Walnut (statue), pine (pedestal)
  • End of the seventeenth century
  • Good condition, gilding gaps on the left leg
  • St. Mary Magdalene representation, in an attitude of contrapposto. The holy holds in his right hand a vase of perfume.
  • The representation of the saint recognized by the care given to the hair, the vase perfume she wears in his hand, to which perfume she anointed Christ's feet at Simon's home and she carried to the grave. These two elements are the usual attributes of the Saint in its depiction of courtesan.
