"Edouard Ducros (1856-1936) Seascape In Martigues In 1928"
The flight, the gesture and the energy of the first draft for this luminous and pretty oil on wood panel by the painter from Aix en Provence Edouard Ducros.
As usual, Ducros uses the technique of the "reserve" of the wood, letting appear and involving the support, which gives a spontaneity and a life to the work.
In very good condition, it is offered in its original frame which measures 46 cm by 59 cm (33 cm by 46 cm for the panel alone).
Signed and dated 1928 lower right, it represents a seaside in Martigues, the famous "Venice of Provence" where the artist used to live.

Pupil of Louis Gautier and Gagliardini, he exhibited at the Salon of French Artists from 1911 to 1935.
In the provinces, it is awarded in Versailles, Lyon and Aix en Provence. He is also the founder of the Society of Friends of the Arts in his hometown, frequented in particular by Cézanne with whom he painted the Montagne Sainte Victoire.
He is best known as the landscape architect of the Etang de Berre
Impressionist, he is the founder of the Society of Friends of the Arts of Aix-en-Provence.
The Granet Museum has "a view of Martigues" and the Museum of Digne "the laborers around Aix en Provence".
His works are kept in the Museums of Aix, Montpellier de Digne and Béziers. His painting Le Grand canal de Martigues was acquired by the city of Paris.
