"Maximilien Louis Fiot - Sea Bird In Flight Over The Sea"
Maximilien-Louis FIOT (1886-1953).Contemporary of Pompon, this French animal sculptor did not take form as his main subject of study, but above all movement. Master in the art of capturing gestures, his subjects seem only momentarily petrified, ready to come back to life at any moment. Birds were a great source of inspiration for Fiot, and this seagull flying over the waves is a great witness of his genius.
Bronze with brown patina signed M. FIOT on the terrace, remarkable quality of casting. Signed on the back by the founder Susse Frère Paris, stamp and mention "lost wax". Circa 1925, serpentine base.
