Object description :

"Miniature Collector's Showcase Cabinet - Louis XVI Style, Napoleon III Period"
Rare display cabinet in ebonized wood, rich brass frame. If our piece of furniture takes the shape and size of a Louis XVI style happiness of the day desk, it is in fact a collector's piece of furniture intended to display precious objects, such as a collection of miniature portraits, fine porcelain, ivory sculptures and other valuable display items. It opens with 2 flaps in the upper part and a flap on the horizontal part (equipped with a clever square to hold it open), the openings locked by a thin key. The backs of the showcases and shelves are sheathed in crimson moire silk. Our piece of furniture is typical of its Napoleon III era which generalizes blackened and gilded wood evoking luxury. Late 19th century, circa 1860-70. Our cabinet is a rare opportunity to present a collection of precious objects while keeping them safe from clumsy hands and dust, with a piece of furniture that combines well with an old decoration. It is in excellent condition, all the windows intact, all the brass present, blackened wood varnished with a very shiny stamp. Width: 85.5cm Depth: 52cm Total height: 146cm Depth of upper shelf: 23cm Height of lower shelf: 78cm
